The Securities Industry Essentials exam is a FINRA qualification exam covering capital markets, products and risks, trading and accounts, and the regulatory framework.
No. Anyone who meets FINRA's age requirement can enroll for the SIE without being associated with a member firm.
The exam presents 80 multiple-choice questions. Seventy-five are scored and five are unscored pretest questions.
The testing time is 105 minutes.
Yes. SIE Exam Ready is available on iOS, Android, and the web, with progress synced across devices when you use the same account.
No. The practice questions are original study material designed around the published SIE content outline.
Passing the SIE does not register you to conduct securities business. A FINRA member firm must sponsor you for the appropriate representative-level qualification exam and registration.
FINRA applies waiting periods before another attempt. Use your score report to focus your review before scheduling a retake.
